SCHOOL CURRICULUM PROGRAM OF STUDIES
Middle School students will be enrolled in a minimum of six classes. In addition to academic classes, students will participate in elective courses. Electives are designed to give students the opportunity to explore areas such as technology, visual and performing arts, career and vocational education and other special interest areas. 6th-8th Grades Program of Studies

The sixth grade is organized to promote a connectedness between students and their teachers. The teachers “team” to provide core classes of English/Social Science and Math/Science. In seventh and eight grades students are placed according to how much they have achieved in each subject area. 7/8CP courses are designed to strengthen subject skills to prepare students for college preparatory (CP) classes or Standard (S) courses in high school. 7/8H courses are for Honors (H) students who have been recognized for exceptionally high achievement (test scores and grades). HONORS CRITERIA English 7 Honors Students who do not meet these eligibility requirements but still wish to be considered for honors classes must complete an academic petition. Petitions will be reviewed by a committee. Decisions will be based on evidence of prior work, test scores and class work grades, and teacher recommendation. Petitions are available in the middle school office.
