National PTA Reflections Program

 

We are excited to welcome back this year's Art Reflections Program. This year’s theme is “What My Culture Means to Me” — a wonderful opportunity for students to express their creativity and share what their culture means to them. Pick a category: options include Visual Arts, Music, Photography, Dance, Film, or Literature, give it a title and artistic statement, and submit it here.

Visual art and photography submissions will be collected at the lunch shelter and middle school gate before school on October 15.

About Reflections 

The National PTA Reflections program was created in 1969 and more than 10 million  students have participated. It is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to  encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. PTA Reflections welcomes  ALL grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts.  

Reflections Promise 

To help all students explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, develop artistic  literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become  more successful in school and life.  

 

Reflections Information  

Students may submit an entry in any of the six art areas listed below: 

• Literature 

• Music Composition 

• Photography 

• Visual Arts 

• Dance Choreography 

• Film Production 

Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by school grade. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade division.Our Sycamore Canyon grade divisions are as follows: 

• Primary – Tk – Grade 2  

• Intermediate – Grades 3-5  

• Middle School – Grades 6-8  

 

MUST KNOW Guidelines  

Entry MUST BE ORIGINAL and created for the purpose of this program and this year's theme! 

Only ONE STUDENT may create the work.

Entry MUST have a title and artist statement. Students should use artist statements to express how their submission relates to the theme.  

 

How-to Submit your entry  

Art Areas ( Visual Arts, Photography) 

- Step 1: Take a clear picture of your entry  

- Step 2: Fill out the Google form and upload your image

- Step 3: Turn in your PHYSICAL piece of art on the deadline date, October 15th 

 

Art Areas ( Dance, Music, Literature, Film ) 

- Step 1 : Fill out the Google form and upload your file to the form

- Dance: Upload video file of your dance 

- Literature: Upload a PDF of your writing piece  

- Film: Upload a video file of your film 

- Music: upload a audio recording of your music composition 

We DO NOT need the physical submissions for these art areas!
